The 1998 Hammersmith and Fulham Council election took place on 7 May 1998 to elect members of Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough Council in London, England. The whole council was up for election and the Labour party stayed in overall control of the council.[2]

Election result
[edit]The Labour Party won 36 seats (on a 49.7% share of the vote) - a gain of 3 seats from the previous election, and maintained control of the council. The Conservative Party won 14 seats (with 37.4% of the vote) - a loss of 1 seat from their previous result. The Liberal Democrats lost the two seats they previously held, winning 12.6% of the votes cast.[2]
