Fucophilus is a fucoidan-utilizing genus of bacteria from the phylum Verrucomicrobiota with one known species (Fucophilus fucoidanolyticus).[1][2][3] Fucophilus fucoidanolyticus has been isolated from the gut contend of a sea cucumber (Stichopus japonicus).[4]
