[edit]@Pinoyagent11, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina:
- text has been inserted above the draft banner tag. This tag needs to be moved to the top of the page: AfC submission|t||ts=20241025154652|u=LIUC11sofie|ns=118|demo=}}
- note the guidelines and good practice on lead (or introductory) sections, and look at good practice on other pages. See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. Use this to develop this section. See also Wikipedia:Writing_better_articles#Lead_section.
- the first sentence is in Italian and needs fixing - Fixed
- other related festivals section needs to embed any relevant links to other pages e.g. to Palio di Siena - Fixed
- Needs an Infobox: find a relevant Infobox template from Wikipedia:List of infoboxes and Template:Infobox recurring event, and use this templare correctly, or find a similar page with a relevant Infobox, and use this. Note that these are templates with rules on how they are used and for acceptable field content/format
- there are no references for any of the limited content. Don't add content without sources.

- Template:Infobox recurring event, I don't really understand, should we insert the infobox in the draft? Kassik27 (talk) 18:45, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- yes Limelightangel (talk) 20:41, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- I added a small infobox, can this work? Would you have any advices on what to add eventually? Pinoyagent11 (talk) 22:43, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

- note and use the guidelines and good practice on lead (or introductory) sections and look at good practice on other pages. See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. See also Wikipedia:Writing_better_articles#Lead_section
- there are fundamental issues referencing standards:
- do not duplicate references in the final list:refs 1, 14, 15; refs 18, 18. Use the Named Reference tool and/or the ref name tag to create multiple text citations to a single reference at the end. See Wikipedia:Naming references for beginners and look at how its done on other pages - Fixed
- many references have no correct link out to the web sources, formated as website sources
- cite templates have not been used properly, with several missing fields, including Journal numbers, publishers, ISBNs, etc.
- if you state 'Economists suggest' then the source is required
- linking: See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking
- you cannot link out to pages that do not exist on the English platform. Fix the link in red - Fixed
- you link out once, the first time the linked text is used - Fixed
- the page needs relevant and acceptable images
- use the conventions on use of non-English terms e.g. '(sbandieratori)'
- structure: sort out the structure, particularly the relationship betweeen History and Origins. The latter is far too late, probably the first sub-section of History - Fixed
- inappropriate style: e.g. 'a remarkable win'; 'a historic double triumph'; 'Another well-known';'Apart from';'another'; etc. Understand why, and see wikipedia:Manual of style, particularly on vocabulary
- check grammar: 'La Repubblica'? 'contrade'? 'the Castellanza area has had a continuous presence'; etc.
- inconsistent use of italics and incorrect and inconsistent use of bold. Check and use the conventions. See [[2]] - Fixed
- duplication: 'annual' and 'held every year'
- missing sources for 4 paragraphs in the History and the lead section

- I added some pictures that I got copyright approvel for from Varesenews, but wikipedia did not ask for the confirmation so i dont know where to put this. LIUC11sofie (talk) 15:44, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Questions
[edit]the section "Awards and Recognition" says that it won the Cultura Viva Award in 2021, but the last episode of this Palio was in 2014, and since then it has never been cited anywhere. The section "Notable Moments or Highlights" describes a notable event about a contrade in 2005, and Palio was established only in 2010. Kishirot (talk) 22:15, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- haven't found any good sources for anything before 2010 and after 2014, if confirmed that it is not correct then remove it LIUC11sofie (talk) 12:40, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Pinoyagent11, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: There are c. 50 issues that need addressing in the feedback posted on 14/11/24 Limelightangel (talk) 11:16, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah i just saw and we have a lot to do Kishirot (talk) 19:45, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Pinoyagent11, LIUC11sofie, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: Hi everyone, just wanted to make sure we have the liceses for the images we are using for the project, also thought it might be a good idea to try and use ai tools for other images? what do you guys think? Talk page style
[edit]- Note the guidelines on Talk page use, including style, spelling, structuring the discusions and signing all posts:Help:Talk_pages. Avoid the personal tense where possible ('I', 'we', etc.) and inappropriate language ('hi guys'). Talk is visible to other editors, so it needs to be clear who is saying what, and 'we' will mean nothing to them. 'get a better grade for the project' is inappriaste here. To sign posts you can use the 1 click option below the editor space, or simply add the 4 '~' symbols manually. You can edit Talk pages to correct your content.

Feedback 14/11/24
[edit]@Pinoyagent11, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina:
- Infobox: the template Template:Infobox recurring event permits more information, including an image.
- lead section: note the guidelines and good practice on lead (or introductory) sections, and look at good practice on other pages. See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. Use this to develop this section, which needs to establish notability, with sources, and summmarize the topic without duplicating later content. See also Wikipedia:Writing_better_articles#Lead_section. As an example, Palio should be mentioned as a linked term here, not later in the page; the text here on 'Each district is historically associated with an oratory or church, many of which date back to at least the 16th century.' should go in the 8 Districts section, not the lead; etc.
- Linking: see Help:linking
- the text lacks a good range of relevant links out across the whole page
- you link out once when the linked term is first used
- do not duplicate links
- avoid over-linking. Understand what to link out to, and why.
- do not link out to external websites from the text. Consider using these as external links e.g. Palio di Asti
- images:
- captions: See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions. All 7 vertical images needs better captions, that include the location, avoid repetition and differentiate each.
- these images run in to the next section, and need better locating and formating with relevant adjacent content - some sub-sections in the Events section could help resolve this
- the captions 'Location of Palio di Castellanza inside Varese' and 'Music preformens 2014' are grammatically incorrect
- there are 14 images in the first half of the page, then none in the second. Consider a balanced and limited use of images throughout the page. A better structure will help, using these images in different places and/or putting some in a Gallery section. See Help:Gallery
- images in the Eight Districts:
- there are only 7 images for 8 districts, and perhaps an image of just one of the teams is enough for this section?
- these images are too large, have no captions, and formatted for excessive vertical scrolling. Consider better formatting options.
- structure:
- there are far too many section headings. Better use can be made of fewer section headings and relevant sub-headings within these e.g. a sub-section on military reenactments with the relevant image captioned for this and located with this sub-section, etc. See Help:Section
- Organization and Funding needs to be an earlier sub-section within a broader section. - Fixed
- Significance cound be a section with sub-sections on cultural and economic significance, etc.
- Future Developments and Plans could be the final sub-section in a better history section - Fixed
- Noteable Moments or Highlights should be removed or included in the currently poor history section - Fixed
- military reenactments occurs in 2 places in events and is better in one place, perhaps as a sub-section
- before submission the page needs adding to Categories. See Help:category
- the page needs sections on See Also and Exeternal links. Understand the differences between these two different page elements, and how they are different to links from the text and references. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#"See_also"_section and Wikipedia:External links. See how it is done on other pages
- significant duplication across the page:
- e.g. 'The event is significant for its preservation of local identity and Italian medieval traditions' is repeated in different forms in several places, but not used in the lead section, where it belongs - Fixed
- content on Monsignor Roberto Colombo is duplicated in both History and culture sections - Fixed
- the History section needs restructuring to be a chronological history, not moving from 1541 to 1974 to 1904 to 1240 to the Italian Renaisance. - Fixed
- the text 'In addition to commemorating the city’s history, the Palio integrates local customs, sayings, and folklore, representing the cultural fabric of Castellanza. Commonly used expressions, traditions, and proverbs exchanged during the Palio reflect daily life from past centuries, revealing the values and beliefs of the Castellanza community' is not about the history of the event and should be in a different section - perhaps related. to culture? - Fixed
- That 'Historical records show that this competition structure has remained mostly unchanged since the 17th century' belongs in History, not 8 districts? - Fixed
- explain and link '("contrade" in Italian)' where the term is first used, not later - Fixed
- The Eight Districts could have a better heading e.g. Festival Structure/Organization or similar
- references:
- All refererences: be consistent and clear in showing if references are to non-English sources
- ref. 2 and 4 link to incorrect sources
- ref. 3 is incorrectly formatted and the link does not work
- ref. 5 is in English but the source is in Italian
- ref. 7 poor source
- refs. 4 and 8 link to the same source
- ref. 8 is better as an external link
- ref. 11, 12, 14, 21 - links do not work
- ref. 15 has a missing author (e.romano )
- ref. 16, 18, 24, 26, 29 - are formatted incorrectly and the links do not work
- ref. 22 is formatted incorrectly
- ref 25, 27 and 28 have no publishers and missing journal part details
- content:
- repetive and contradictory content in lead and History section: 'is an annual event held in Castellanza, Italy,' and 'is an biennial event held in Castellanza, a town in the Lombardy region of Italy.'
- content irrelevant to this page? 'Historical accounts indicate that the Castellanza area has had a continuous presence since 1541, the year in which documentation of births and deaths began. The city was legally constituted in its current form after May 1, 1869, when Castegnate was merged to create a unified municipality. By 1974, Castellanza obtained official recognition as a city, marking an important landmark in its growth'; 'The bridge constructed over the Nord Milan railway from 1882 to 1887 was another significant project, connecting Castellanza with neighboring areas and promoting trade and travel.'; - needs relating to the page topic or removing - Fixed
- text formating: be consistent and follow conventions on the use of italics, bold and other formating e.g. 'The Palio di Castellanza; 'contrade'; etc. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting - Fixed
- check all grammar: 'hounors'; etc. - Fixed
- style:
- avoid subjective, redundant and biased language. See section on Vocabulary in Wikipedia:Manual of Style and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch
- avoid words/phrases like e.g. 'recent years, ' (three times); 'firmly grounded'; 'rich past'; 'Notable landmarks'; 'In addition to' (twice); 'showcasing'; 'you can take part'; 'Throughout the event'; 'spectators can enjoy '; 'offer a taste'; 'also includes '; 'not only decorative but '; 'proudly displays'; 'carefully crafted'; 'highlight a strong emphasis'; 'really started to highlight '; ' For instance, you might see huge'; 'carefully selects '; 'undergo rigorous training'; 'a substantial contributor'; 'has also established'; 'prestigious institutions'; etc.
- remove content that offers subjective interpretation of facts e.g 'These digital initiatives reflect the Palio’s adaptability to modern expectations while preserving its traditional values'; 'representing the cultural fabric'; 'revealing the values and beliefs of the Castellanza community'; 'making it a big part of the festival. '; 'turning art into a cool way to tell the town’s stories.'; 'This friendly rivalry fosters a strong sense of local identity and echoes '; 'Italy's iconic palio competitions'; 'These celebrations act as a bridge to the past, ensuring that each generation gains a deeper understanding and appreciation of Castellanza’s rich heritage.'; 'Economists suggest that festivals like these generate jobs and support local products, reinforcing the region’s economic resilience. '; ' allowing academics and the general public alike to gain insight into the cultural significance of such events. This exchange of knowledge between the festival and academia not only enhances the Palio’s educational scope but also strengthens its reputation as a valuable cultural asset'; 'The Palio di Castellanza places a high priority on safety and security, ensuring that both participants and spectators enjoy the festivities without incident.'; 'strict guidelines ensure humane treatment and animal welfare.'; ' highlighting Castellanza’s commitment to ethical practices within traditional festivals. '; 'ensuring smooth access for visitors.'; 'substantial media attention'; 'play a significant role in reaching global audiences. This media presence has significantly boosted its visibility, drawing more tourists each year.'; etc. Some of this needs to be removed and some could be rewritten in more objective and factual vocabulary.

- ->Changes Made:
- "Safety, Security, and Logistics":
- This section has been moved to be a subheading under the existing "Community Involvement" heading. The reasoning behind this decision is that safety measures and logistical planning are closely tied to the involvement of the local community, such as volunteers, law enforcement, and municipal organizers. Integrating it under "Community Involvement" makes the article structure more cohesive by grouping related topics together.
- "Media Coverage and Publicity":
- This section has been renamed to "Media Coverage" for clarity and simplicity, as "Publicity" was somewhat redundant and could be considered implicit in the term "media coverage." Additionally, this section remains a standalone heading, as it highlights the festival's broader impact through media channels, which is distinct from other organizational or community-focused aspects. The use of Talk page
[edit]the use of the Talk Page is very important we should use it as much as possible even for futile things. I’ve seen many groups using it to get extra points in the contribution, so we also should make use of it. Let’s stop using the WhatsApp and chat here. Kishirot (talk) 19:50, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Finding more pictures
[edit]Do you think we could ask the Castellanza town hall if they have more photos of the Palio di Castellanza? Kassik27 (talk) 00:16, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes we could, but if they have any pictures, we have to ask them to write down a sort of formal permission so we can attach it while uploading the images on WikiCommons Pinoyagent11 (talk) 00:21, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Where can the formal permission be found? @Pinoyagent11@Limelightangel Kassik27 (talk) 16:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Whoever tries to contact the city hall needs to ask them to give us permission to use the material, whether on an email or on an attached PDF. But they are the ones that have to write it, who gets in touch with them, just needs to specify that we need proof of their permission Pinoyagent11 (talk) 16:23, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Is a screenshot of the email sufficient as proof of permission, or is it necessary to request a formal document filled out by the city hall for the authorization? Kassik27 (talk) 16:57, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- A screenshot of the email should be enough as a proof. Pinoyagent11 (talk) 17:06, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- yes and i think you only have to have it if they ask for it later in the process because when i uploaded pictures it wasn't requiered LIUC11sofie (talk) 14:41, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- A screenshot of the email should be enough as a proof. Pinoyagent11 (talk) 17:06, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

Doubuts about some content
[edit]@LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: In the "Noteable Moments or Highlights" paragraph, a 2005 highlight is mentioned , but how is it possible if the festival first started in 2010? Are we sure it's talking about the Palio di Castellanza and not of any other Palio? Like the Legnano one, which is the neighbour-city Palio? It's better to check otherwise it will be very contradictory. From the cite link it's not possible to check because it's referred to a physical book. Pinoyagent11 (talk) 13:21, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- i think we should just take it away because i couldnt go into the link and the palio de castellanza did not start until 2010 LIUC11sofie (talk) 14:02, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

More material
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: SempioneNews.com had some images that could be added to the page, like the poster of the third edition (2014). They have already been contacted and we are waiting for a response. Also they should attach something written that gives the permission to use it, so there won't be problems uploading on WikiCommons. "Safety, Security, and Logistics" and "Media Coverage and Publicity" Sections
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: These two sections are too small and contain little information to be main sections, so should they be included as subsections anywhere else on the page with more information or just deleted?
References
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and Pinoyagent11: In the section References there are many anomalies: (1) It's correct; (2) The page doesn't exist; (3) The page doesn't exist; (4) It's wrong. The link bring the reader to an existing page and website but it doesn't show the information requested; (5) The page doesn't exist; (6) It's correct; (7) It's wrong, the same as 4; (8) The cited book exist but with a different name; (9) It's not particularly related to the text; (10) The same as 9; (11) The reference is correct and relevant but it should be cited in the text too; (12) It's correct; (13) The page doesn't exist; (14) The page doesn't exist; (15) It's correct; (16) It's correct; (17) It's correct; (18) It's correct; (19) The page doesn't exist; (20) No link (I don't think this is a problem since other wikipedia pages decide to report references without an external link); (21) The page doesn't exist; (22) No link, the same as 20; (23) The page doesn't exist; (24) No link, the same as 20-22; (25) The page doesn't exist; (26) It's wrong, the same as 4-7; (27) No link, the same as 20-22-24; (28) The page doesn't exist; (29) No link, the same as 20-22-24-27; (30) The page doesn't exist; (31) It's the same exact citation of 8; (32) No link, the same as 20-22-24-27-29; (33) No link, the same as 20-22-24-27-29-32; (34) It's wrong, cite error. As regards the pages that does not exist I suggest who did the references to research for the information and control if it is possible to add it again correctly. Regarding istead the wrong ones they can be easily fixed following the "instructions" given in this message (ex. 4-7-8-9-10-11-26-31). At least I think the "No link" references shouldn't be modified but I prefer listen to your opinion about this. MatteoLIUC11 (talk) 12:48, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- For references 13-14 the links do work. This links have been inserted by me and I just checked and they work.
- For the other links I agree with your opinion Pinoyagent11 (talk) 11:11, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Feedback 21/11/24
[edit]@Pinoyagent11, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina:
- Talk page style & conventions. See and use Help:Talk:
- always sign your posts
- for topic discusions, not page contributions
- style: not 'good evening guys'; etc.
- structure the headings: not 'Another question', etc.
- not for project-related discussions
- edit/correct the Talk page to make it acceptable to the platform conventions and understandable to other editors
- topic: if the event has been discontinued this needs updating on the page and lead section; their maybe useful information on the reasons for it ending
- over-linking. See Help:linking and Wikipedia:Linking dos and don'ts e.g. 'North Milan railway'; 'political figures'; 'Tug of war'; 'Facebook'; 'Instagram'; etc.
- references/sources:
- the entire section on Events and Activities has only 2 sources, for just one paragraph
- first para. of Palio's Identity has no sources
- 2 of the 3 paragraphs in Community Involvement have no sources
- 2 parapraphs in Organisational Structure: The Eight Districts have no sources
- 7 errors in red in references; use the help links provided with each to resolve the issues
- additionally, the following references are incorrectly formatted: 7, 8, 9,
- the page needs sections on See Also and Exeternal links. Understand the differences between these two different page elements, and how they are different to links from the text and references. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#"See_also"_section and Wikipedia:External links. See how it is done on other pages
- style:
- ongoing issues with subjective, biased vocabulary e.g. 'A particularly significant project'; 'an important reflection of '; 'fostering both civic pride and'; 'Significant landmarks '; 'An interesting fact about this tradition is that,'; 'These celebrations serve as a link to the past, providing each generation with opportunities to learn about and connect with Castellanza's heritage'.
etc.
- the entire Future Developments and Plans needs removing or writing due to style. It may need to be removed anyway if the event has been discontinued
- the entire section on Notable momments in the history section needs removing; it has no facts, history, dates or sources
- structure:
- repetive issue with chronology (reniasance coming after 1904 content)
- History section has no history after 1904, and there is as much on future plans than the actual past history
- there is frequent duplication of text stating the cultural/heritage significance throughout the page
- images:
- image captions could be clearer, less repetive and include location
- relevance: The Palio in Siena image is possibly irrelevant to this page topic
- content:
- Monsignor Roberto Colombo needs at least an approximate historic date
- text formatting: needs a consistent and correct use of conventions for bold and italic across the page. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting

- -> Edits have been made to address instances of subjective or promotional language in the article. Phrases such as "a particularly significant project" and "an important reflection of" have been replaced with more neutral wording to align with Wikipedia's standards for objective and verifiable content. Similarly, expressions like "an interesting fact" were revised to focus on factual descriptions without subjective framing. These adjustments aim to improve the article's neutrality and readability. Update on Research Efforts Regarding the Palio di Castellanza
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, SpriteMedicina and Pinoyagent11:
It was noted that the library at LIUC does not have any documents related to the Palio di Castellanza. However, staff provided a contact email for a professor at LIUC who may have further information. An email has been sent to the professor, and a response is awaited.
Additionally, efforts to contact the municipal office of Castellanza via email initially went unanswered. A visit to the office in person revealed that the Palio di Castellanza is no longer an active event, and relevant documentation is unavailable. However, the office provided an alternative contact email to formally submit requests for information. An email has been sent to this address, and a response is pending.
Further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available. Kassik27 (talk) 19:12, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the information.
- Sempione News didn't give an answer neither so the images that they had, can't be used at the moment. Hoping for a further reply, I'll keep you posted Pinoyagent11 (talk) 19:45, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
Unclear information
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: In the info box there is a strange voice: if the palio was inaugurated in 2010, how is it possible that has a start date that goes back to 1989? I think it should be deleted Pinoyagent11 (talk) 20:14, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- UPDATE 22/11: The wrong date has been deleted Pinoyagent11 (talk) 15:19, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I read that it was an old festival or something similar and that was lost during the years and only recently in the 2010 it has been revived and re organised to make it something official as an effective festival, but later then it died again or at least that’s what i understood. Kishirot (talk) 16:17, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, but the festival dates go back to medieval times then died. The date that was written was very recent (1989), so that's why it didn't really fit in Pinoyagent11 (talk) 16:25, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
References
[edit]References have been reduced, From 31 references now there is only 20, what is the reason behind this? Respond to this if there are any problems regarding the references or in-text citations so we can resolve it. Georgeliuc11 (talk) 17:09, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Verbal tense
[edit]@Limelightangel, LIUC11sofie, LoreP12345, Kishirot, Georgeliuc11, Kassik27, and SpriteMedicina: Since the Palio di Castellanza isn't active anymore, the verbal tense has to be changed, so any present sentence used to talk about the palio needs to be changed. I think this could be a good task for who doesn't have much contribution on the page. I already changed on the heading paragraph, but there are lots on the whole page. Pinoyagent11 (talk) 19:42, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I am sorry but i dont think other members are capable of doing even the easiest task on the page, i would suggest we split this work along 4 people and divide each part so it is done correctly and fast. Georgeliuc11 (talk) 11:26, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Changed the community involvement heading to past tense already Georgeliuc11 (talk) 12:29, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Changed the verbal tenses in the "Event and Activites" and "Organisation Structure: The Eight Districts" to past tenses Pinoyagent11 (talk) 15:25, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
