Yong-Young Noh is a Korean material scientist and a distinguished Chair Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).

Education

[edit]

Yong-Young Noh graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering of Dongguk University (DGU), Seoul, Korea in 2000. In 2002, he obtained his M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Organic Opto-electronic Lab of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST). Continuing his study at GIST, he completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the Photonic Polymer Lab in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Cavendish Laboratory, the University of Cambridge, UK.

Career and research

[edit]

Yong-Young Noh is renowned for his significant contributions to the field of chemical engineering, particularly in developing and applying next-generation semiconductor materials. Over the past 20 years, he has achieved international recognition for research that has brought substantial paradigm shifts in semiconductor material development and device applications. His work spans both printed electronics technology and thermal evaporation technology, with a focus on high-performance n-type and p-type next-generation semiconductor materials. Among his most notable accomplishments is his groundbreaking research on high-performance p-type devices and the corresponding p-type semiconductor materials, considered national challenges. This includes innovative discoveries in organic, halide perovskite, and metal oxide semiconductors for p-type thin film transistors.
