Draft:Whiteleigh Meadows

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whiteleigh Meadows.[1] is a Site of Special Scientific Interest near Brandis Corner in Devon, England. It was designated as a protected area in 1987 because of its plant diversity in unimproved grassland. Heath Spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) has been seen at the site.

The protected area was the subject of a court case brought when Natural England discovered unauthorised grazing of livestock at the site[2].

Part of the land area designated as Whiteleigh Meadows Site of Special Scientific Interest is owned by the Forestry Commission[3].
