The Wasatch WarGulls is a west region team in the Australian rules football in the United States under the USAFL (United States Australian Football League).[1]
History
[edit]The WarGulls were conceived in 2019, making the WarGulls the 45th team[2] to join the USAFL. Although founded in 2019, the club didn’t become active until 2021. They are based in Salt Lake City, Utah[3]. The club is currently composed of a Division 5 men' team and players who compete in Division 1 & 2 womens.
Naming
[edit]The Wasatch (WAH-satch) name represents a number of major municipalities in the northern part of the state[4], including Salt Lake City, Provo, and Ogden, from which their players hail. The WarGulls name is an homage to the Willamstown Seagulls of the Victorian Football League.
Jumper
[edit]The Wasatch WarGulls' guernsey consists of a teal blue background with a yellow V.
Premierships
[edit]The Wasatch Wargulls won its inaugural premiership in Austin Texas on 13 October 2024, at the USAFL Nationals. Wasatch joined forces with the New York Magpies reserves team to win Division 5, not losing a game during the tournament.[5]
