- Comment: Fails WP:NSONG, whilst the American Songwriter reference is acceptable. The KSLX reference isn't. Requires significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. Dan arndt (talk) 03:19, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

"Waiting For Stevie" is a song by American rock band Pearl Jam. It was released on September 10, 2024, as the fourth single from their twelfth studio album Dark Matter.
Background
[edit]The song was written at when Lead singer Eddie Vedder and producer Andrew Watt waited for a music legend Stevie Wonder to arrive for a recording session during Eddie Vedder's third solo album Earthling.
While Vedder and Watt waited for Wonder, they began trading guitar riffs. Watt played first, and Vedder said he had a similar idea. They created an entirely new riff by combining both ideas, which became the starting point for Pearl Jam’s "Waiting for Stevie". Stevie Wonder finally arrived at the studio seven hours later. Wonder then tracked harmonica on Earthling's song "Try" and left.[1]
Lyrics and meaning
[edit]Though Stevie Wonder inspired the title, the song isn’t about him. Vedder explained to Howard Stern the song’s inspiration is music. He said, “It’s a song about being affected by music. And music changing your life, and maybe leading you to your tribe.”[1]
Music video
[edit]On October 10, 2024, Pearl Jam released a music video for "Waiting For Stevie". It features a live performance of the song filmed during the band's May 30, 2024 concert at Seattle, Washington' Climate Pledge Arena. The video highlights the band's tour visuals which were designed by Rob Sheridan.[2]
