Tour of Thekkady (also called ToT ) is an organised mass participation cyclosportive / gran fondo cycling event for amateur/pro cyclists to race / ride. Its by far the largest cyclosportive event in India. First held in 2022 and organised by the KEG Bikers - a cycling club in Kottayam district.
The event takes place typically 2nd Saturday of March every year at a town Kottayam in the Indian state of Kerala. The event starts from Kottayam to Thekkady via Pala, Kulamavu dam, Idukki dam, Kattappana, Puliyanmala.
The Tour of Thekkady ride is 160km long with over 3200m elevation gain. Its conducted in open roads with mass start format. The scenic route a terrain similar to Tour de France stages. The event is designed similar to l'Étape du Tour - one of the most famous cyclo sportive / gran fondo event in the world. The event has two flavours
- Tour : 160km tour with a time limit of 14 hours. The riders enjoy the west-east scenic route with stops in between.
- Race : 145km race which follows the same route as Tour, but ends 15km before the tour end point, as the last part is a downhill to Thekkady town. The Race has various categories : Team, Elite Men, Masters Men and Women.
Tour of Thekkady is gaining popularity in India and abroad. the third edition in 2024 attracted riders from UAE as well.
The next edition is on Saturday, 8th March, 2025.
Past Editions

[edit]150 riders participated in this event, which is held on 10th February 2024. Salvin VJ [1]finished first in 05:18:40 hours overall and also in Mens-elite category. This edition, the cut off time for various categories introduced and men-masters categories introduced to the race.
2023
[edit]100 riders participated in this edition, held on 11th March 2023. Abhinav K.C. finished fist in 5:26 hours overall and also in Mens category. This edition, womens category got introduced.
2022
[edit]50 riders participated in the very first edition of Tour of Thekkady on 30th April 2022. Sreenath Lakshmikanth[2] finished the ride in 5:15 hours ( still the record).
