Tomáš Řepa, (* 28. 11. 1985 in Třebíč) is a Czech military historian, journalist and writer,[1][2] He specialises in 20th century Czech and Czechoslovak history and older military history, especially the Napoleonic Wars. In the context of the war in Ukraine, he has also become a much-quoted security expert at the University of Defence in Brno, where he currently teaches military history at the Department of Military Theory of the Faculty of Armed Forces Leadership. [3] He is the author of numerous articles on war and security issues and provides expert commentary to the media, particularly on the war in Ukraine, comparisons and patterns of past and present conflicts. He has been a member of the Active Reserve of the Armed Forces since 2023.[4]
Life During his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of Masaryk University, he cooperated with the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes (ÚSTR), served as an unelected councillor (2014-2018) of the Brno-Střed district in the Education Committee and the Legislative Committee, and ensured the implementation of the registry agenda. As an external coordinator of the Stories of Our Neighbours project for the Brno region of POST BELLUM, o.p.s., he also became its ambassador. After obtaining his doctorate in 2018, he joined the Defence University as an assistant professor at the Department of Military Theory (Military History Group) of the Faculty of Military Leadership, while completing his education with a bachelor's degree in Public Administration at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno. He currently works as an external lecturer at the Department of International Relations of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Masaryk University.
