The John Wayne Gacy Murders: Life and Death in Chicago is a 2024 documentary miniseries produced, written and directed by filmmaker/author John Borowski. It chronologically tells the true story of Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy.
The miniseries is an eight part, unprecedented, thorough, and concise historical documentary accounting Gacy's entire life and details of the case from Gacy's birth to the continued effort to put a name to Gacy's unidentified victims.
The miniseries covers everything from Gacy's childhood, incarcerations, murders, his prison celebrity status, and eventual execution. What makes Borowski's Gacy mini-series unique is the dispelling of many myths about the Gacy case, providing new information and theories on the case as well as Borowski's unique style of telling the complete story by placing the subject under a microscope and studying their life in detail. Borowski has been called a "folklorist" and the "Ken Burns" of true crime documentaries.
Featuring interviews with experts involved in Gacy's case including attorneys, news reporters, law enforcement officers, detectives, psychiatrists, collectors, and others related to Gacy's case as well as Chicago locals who encountered Gacy. Filming in key locations around Chicago and Iowa, the project contains firsthand knowledge from the Gacy case.

[edit]- ^ This documentary takes a look at the life and crimes of notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. From his early years to adulthood to criminality and beyond his execution. I'm a total @johnborowskifilmmaker fan, I think the man makes legitimately the best true life serial killer movies ever. With this miniseries, he outdoes himself in every possible way. There will never be as thorough or comprehensive look at Gacy as this. I thought I knew a lot about Gacy, after watching this, I didn't know anything. This is a masterpiece among masterpieces for the director, from the narration to the interviews to how everything unfolded chronologically. I watched this one in one sitting and it was probably the quickest 8 hours of my life. The flow of this is incredible. I see how much work and effort went into this, it really is an outstanding piece of filmmaking that every true crime connoisseur must watch.
