The Harbours, formed in 2024, are an indie-pop band from Leicestershire, UK.
Background:
[edit]The band consists of lead vocalist Ollie Drakard and lead guitarist Will Massarella-Tyler.
Will and Ollie met in their first year at Durham University in 2020.
They were subject lockdown restrictions in college halls, due to Coronavirus, like all UK universities during this period. To pass the time, they played music for hours on end with other friends in their college, namely Alexander Barker and Henry Alexander.
Forming a band called Viaduct[1], they released 3 singles and gigged locally for the 3 years whilst at uni. During this time the band performed at over 40 live gigs, in a range of venues in Durham, playing indie-covers.
2024 – present
[edit]After graduating, Ollie and Will formed The Harbours and now release original music full-time.
Their debut single 'Out of Sight' [2] released April 2024, featured on BBC Introducing Radio in the East Midlands [3]. The official video was released to YouTube. [4]
Going viral on social platforms, Manchester City FC commented "Absolute banger" [5]
Their summer follow-up single 'So Sweet' [6] released in June 2024 featured an energetic sound and lyrically focused on young love. The official video was released to YouTube [7] and featured use of computer software to duplicate Ollie and Will into a 4 piece band.
The track received airplay on radio stations in the UK, Europe and the USA.
A highlight for the band was the Dean Jackson interview [8] at BBC Radio Nottingham when Ollie got to push the ‘play button’ in BBC studios as Will introduced the track live on air.
So Sweet featured as 'Pick of the Week' on 12th-18th August on Maritime Radio [9] in the UK.
And The Harbours as ‘Spotlight band’ on Wythenshawe FM radio [10] in the UK.
Wow radio in the USA commented ‘you guys got it goin’ on!’ [11]
Their 3rd single ‘Forgive and Forget’ [12] was released in July 2024 with accompanying official video on Youtube [13]. In this track Will takes on the verse vocals with Ollie adding the chorus in a song that covers the emotional turmoil of relationship breakdowns.
Debut gig The Harbours debut headline gig [14] was held at Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge [15] in Stamford UK on July 19th 2024 and featured live members Oscar as drummer and Dan as bass guitarist.
