The Taylors Lake Football Club is a sports club based South-East of Horsham in Western Victoria, Australia. The club has both netball and Australian Rules Football teams competing in the Horsham District Football League (HDFL)
History
[edit]Taylors Lake Football club was founded in 1946 shortly after WWII by local Wimmera farming families. Taylors Lake is where the Lakers initially held games on an oval. However they relocated between Dock and Green Lake, in 1952, but the club maintained its old name. Later that year, The Lakers would defeat Jung 43 pts[1] (Former HDFL team) in the 1952 premiership game to claim their lone senior Premiership[2]
The club also faced hardships with lack of junior players for there teams likewise with other clubs in the league most notably when they entered the early 2020's,[3] in an attempt to keep a junior side for the club they merged junior sides with "Stawell Swifts" who had been struggling to adapt to the AFL's new 3 year age catchments.[4] Both sides would come together at the start of the 2024 season and form a joint Junior team "Taylor Swifts" to ensure that they could both make a team for their junior players.[5]
