The Tamluk Royal family, also known as the Tamralipta Royal Family, is a distinguished historical dynasty from Tamluk, located in present-day West Bengal, India. Renowned for its significant contributions, the family has played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural, political, and social landscape of Bengal, particularly during the medieval and colonial eras. Historically associated with the Mahishya[1] caste, a community with deep roots and a prominent legacy in the region, the Tamluk Raj family continues to be an emblem of Bengal's rich heritage.
Mythological Origins
[edit]This dynasty is traditionally believed to trace its lineage back to King Mordhwaj, a prominent figure mentioned in the Mahabharata.
