Summa Linguae S.A. is a global company that provides data services, translation and localization services.

Overview

[edit]

Summa Linguae Technologies is a global provider of language and technology solutions, specializing in localization, multilingual data for AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and AI-powered language solutions.[2][3]

The company was founded in 2011 by Krzysztof Zdanowski in Poland and initially operated as a traditional language services provider.[4] Over time, Summa Linguae evolved into a leader in AI-driven solutions, offering services that help global companies enhance multilingual communication and data strategies.[5]

With headquarters in Warsaw, Poland, the company operates globally, providing advanced technology-enabled localization and data solutions for industries such as e-commerce, healthcare, and artificial intelligence.[6]

Mergers and Acquisitions

[edit]

In 2016, Summa Linguae Technologies entered a strategic alliance with Mayflower Language Services, a prominent Indian localization company based in Bangalore. This partnership enabled Summa Linguae to extend its services to global markets, particularly in India.[7][8]

In 2018, the company acquired Sweden-based Kommunicera, marking its expansion into Scandinavia and establishing a presence in Northern Europe.[9][10]

In 2019, Summa Linguae Technologies became majority-owned by private equity investors, including Value4Capital (V4C), Genesis Capital, and ESPIRA Investments. These firms played key roles in funding Summa Linguae's acquisitions, particularly in North America, facilitating the company's growth in the U.S. and Canada.[11][12]

That same year, Summa Linguae acquired Globalme, a data collection and localization company based in Vancouver, Canada. This acquisition bolstered Summa Linguae's presence in North America and enhanced its capacity to serve the AI and tech industries.[13][14]

In 2021, the company further expanded its data solutions capabilities by acquiring Datamundi, a Belgium-based firm specializing in creating and enriching language data for Natural Language Processing (NLP) system builders.[15][16]

In 2022, Summa Linguae Technologies strengthened its life sciences offerings through the acquisition of Getit, a Poland-based company focused on providing complex linguistic solutions to global corporations in the life sciences sector.[17][18]

By 2022, private equity firms maintained significant control, with Genesis Capital and ESPIRA Investments acquiring interests from V4C. These ownership changes supported the company's expansion into AI-driven data solutions and multilingual content management.[19]

Operations

[edit]

Summa Linguae provides data solutions for AI, managed services, translation, and localization in many languages. The company operates through multiple offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.[20]
