Biography
[edit]Steve Veasey was born and grew up in British Columbia, Canada.[3]
As a child he was very interested in art, and wanted to become an animator at Walt Disney Studios. He originally planned on attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design, but his plans changed in his late teens after he began working in youth ministry and was encouraged by his community to become a pastor, and he decided to attend Bible school instead.[1][2][3][4]
At the age of 20 he was diagnosed with epilepsy after ending up in the hospital due to having a seizure while driving, which subsequently resulted in a car accident. He had experienced seizures since childhood, but each time he attempted to explain to doctors the symptoms that he had when he would have an episode, they dismissed his concerns.[2][3][5]
After finishing Bible school, he found a job in youth ministry. There he was told he couldn't pursue art and serve in ministry, so he decided to give up art.[4] After several years working in youth ministry, his career as a pastor did not work out due to life circumstances. He began working a retail job at a hardware store, and eventually became a manager.[1]
Some years later, with the encouragement of his wife, he decided to get back into creating art. In 2021 he started an Instagram page on which to share his art. That some year, he published the first edition of his book Thin Spaces.[1] In 2024, he published the second edition of Thin Spaces.[5]
