In Brazil, each state has its own written constitution.
First constitutions - States started having their own constitutions after the creation of the national constitution of 1891. Noted in title 3 Dos Estados Art. 63. which states that "Cada Estado reger-se-ha pela Constituição e pelas leis que adoptar, respeitados os principios constitucionaes da União."[3][non-primary source needed]

Latest constitutions - All states[citation needed] adopted new constitutions after the creation of the national constitution of 1988, the current constitution. Temporary Constitutional Provisions Act Article 11 states have 1 year to draft their state constitutions.
