StageFright is a hard rock band from Vorarlberg, Austria that was formed in early 2018 by Swiss guitarist Alessio "Ace" Cilea. The band is known for its energetic live performances[1][2], which are strongly reminiscent of the glam metal era of the 80s.[3][4]
History
[edit]The band originally consisted of founding members Marius Berchtold (vocals), Martina Jagg (vocals), Kevin Malcher (guitar), Alessio "Ace" Cilea (guitar), Brandon Schindler (bass) and Manuel Remm (drums). They made a failed attempt to record a demo.[5][6]
The following year both Martina Jagg and Kevin Malcher left StageFright and joined the surf rock project Contrail[7] and the metalcore band Like We Are[8]. Kevin Malcher was replaced by Simon Ostini who was only 15 years old at the time.
In 2021 the band started recording their debut album Wanted at the Nautilus Sound Studios[9]. During the recording sessions, lead singer Marius Berchtold was fired from the band after a heated argument about the coronavirus pandemic that had just hit Austria. He was replaced by Schlager singer André Resch. The band decided to rerecord all vocals with him. Following the dismissal of Marius Berchtold, drummer Manuel Remm decided to quit music and was replaced by Rene “Wolf” Wolf.[10] Later that year, bass player Brandon Schindler moved to Vienna to join the black metal project Grümphrö and was substituted by Martin Mündle.[11] One year after production start the debut album Wanted and the singles Walk, Diamond Eyes and Drive were released in 2022.[12][13]
The debut album attracted a great deal of regional attention and the band was signed by swiss artist management agency Stagepalace in the same year[14]. Due to personal health issues singer André Resch was eventually forced to leave the band in October 2022. He was replaced by singer Marc Lechner shortly after. In the new line-up, StageFright played a large number of national and international club shows and festivals.[15][16][17]
In June 2023 StageFright got in contact with sound engineer "Cook", austrian rock legend Jonny Alton[18] and producer "Raze". In winter 2023, they began recording an EP.
