Sophia Conway is an Irish poet, author, and photographer, who immigrated to Canada in 2019[1]. Her faith, motherhood, and experience as an immigrant to Canada heavily inspire her creative work. [1]

Poetry

[edit]

Her Japanese short-form and free-verse poetry has been published numerous times, with her micro-chapbook Crumbs & Constellations: A Haiku Story published in 2024 by the Origami Poetry Project.[2] She has taught Haiku poetry workshops [3] and done spoken word performances for the Sakura Days Festival in Vancouver, Canada.[4] She enjoys exploring new ways of presenting her poetry, including music, video, and visual art[5]. She is a member of the League of Canadian Poets.[6]. Her debut poetry book Someday Somewhere Beautiful will be published in 2025 by Alabaster Leaves Publishing.[1]

Photography

[edit]

Her photography has been published alongside her poetry [7] and in December 2024 she released her first photography series[8] entitled Shelf Memories; which she has described as a nostalgic photo series that explores the relationship between giver and recipient through the medium of books given as gifts. [5]

Writing

[edit]

She self-published her first novella His Last Companion in 2023. [9] Her first essay What Found Poetry Can Teach Us About Life With God with the Clayjar Review [10] was well received and her second essay Loving Our Imprisoned Neighbors published with Love is Moving Magazine [11] was heavily inspired by her community letter writing work [12] and led to her being selected as the magazines November 2024 Artists Spotlight.[13]
