Session42 is an Israeli music technology company that was founded in 2021 as a music production and record label company before pivoting in 2024 to focus on developing AI-driven products and services for the music industry.[1]
History
[edit]Established in early 2021 by tech entrepreneur Oudi Antebi and music producer Tal Forer, later on adding 3 additional co-founders, Yinon Yahel, Amit Shine and Stav Beger, Session42's original business model involved producing music with artists and retaining ownership shares of the recordings instead of charging upfront fees.[1][2] The company raised an initial round of funding from private investors to support its operations.[3]
In 2022, Session42 expanded into music distribution, initially serving Israeli artists before going global.[4] They also launched an artist management division that year, signing 8 clients including Eden Golan, who is set to represent Israel at Eurovision 2024.[5]A publishing arm was also established in 2022 to sign international talent.
The company gained attention in 2023 for several notable releases, the song Unicorn[6] representing israel in the 2023 Eurovision and later creating "Kan Leolam[7]," a song that appeared to feature AI-simulated vocals combining the voices of two late Israeli singers.[8] Seeing potential in AI applications, Session42 began testing and developing AI solutions for music production.
2024 pivot to AI
[edit]In early 2024, Session42 announced on their web site a strategic shift to focus primarily on building AI technology for the music industry. As part of this pivot, they decommissioned their label focused website, scaled back traditional label operations, and ceased most of their artist management aside from continuing to represent Golan.[9]
The company is now dedicated to developing an AI-powered music production service that can produce songs automatically as well as AI-driven music distribution technologies (as announced on their web site before taken down). Despite this new technological emphasis, Session42 continues to produce some music using their in-house team of producers.[10]
Company leadership
[edit]Session42's co-founders include:
- Oudi Antebi: Serial tech entrepreneur, previously started 3 companies
- Tal Forer: Renowned Israeli music producer
- Amit Shine: 25+ year music industry veteran (A&R, management, publishing)
- Yinon Yahel: Award-winning international DJ/producer
- Stav Beger: Producer known for work on major international hits
The company operates out of Tel Aviv, Israel and has not publicly disclosed funding details.[2]
