There are a few minor changes made to the behaviour of the template:
the error messages for missing and unknown |type= values now have different texts
a non-numeric |pop= value, which caused an error, now means a population density is not calculated (and therefore not shown)
the colon at the end of the heading for the 'Places Near' sub-table is no longer output
except in article namespace, output of all categories is suppressed - all the 'automatic' categories, and all the tracking categories
Notes:
This page is based on the testcases page for the current template, though the cases have been re-ordered and each labelled with a sub-heading.
There are additional cases in order to test some particular parameter values, and for some values that (intentionally, here) cause error messages.
There are also additional cases for valid (though currently undocumented) values for |map_type=
Artificial values for some parameters have been added to some cases in order to have a non-blank value for all parameters recognised by the template somewhere in these test cases. Where possible these have '*' at the end of the artificial value. There are some other changed or removed parameters for testing purposes. These changes are labelled <!--artificial--> in the source for this page.
There are no cases with the undocumented (and presumed obsolete) parameters |image_size=, |imagesize=, |alt=, |image_size2=, |imagesize2= and |alt2=.
Although entirely geographically in the Hunter Region, Port Stephens is also considered to be part of the Mid North Coast as demonstrated by this sign, only 900 m (2,953 ft) north of the Hunter River.

^The density figure provided is that for the whole of Nelson Bay. However, the population listed in the ABS data reside in only about 3.9 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi) (approximately 25%) of the suburb, the remainder being uninhabited for various reasons including that a large portion of the suburb is part of Tomaree National Park. The density in the inhabited area is approximately 1,383.6/km2 (3,584/sq mi).
^Area calculations are based on 1:100000 map 9232 NEWCASTLE.
^This is the population figure for most of the suburb. It excludes residents living on two properties to the west of Newline Road in the north of the suburb. These are included in the ABS figures for Eagleton
^This is the population density for the entire suburb, which includes rural areas around the town. The population density for the actual township, which covers an area of only 10.6 km2 (4.1 sq mi) is considerably higher.
^Raymond Terrace is primarily flat however it does have some elevated areas. The figure presented represents the average elevation in the most populous area of the town as shown in 1:100000 map 9232 NEWCASTLE.
