Samantha "Sam" Pyrah (formerly known as Sam Murphy) is a British author, marathoner, ultramarathoner, triathlete and entrepreneur from East Sussex, UK. She has written 8 books to date, including the best-selling Run for Life: The Real Women's Guide to Running, and Marathon: From Start to Finish. She also a frequent contributor to fitness, running, and sports media, including Runner's World[1], BBC[2], and The Guardian[3] among others. In 2021, she was honored as "Highly Commended" (as Samantha Pyrah) in the BBC Countryfile's New Nature Writer of the Year Awards[4].

As of 2024, she has completed 17 marathons. In 2000, she was the first British female to cross the finish line in the Himalayan 100 mile ultra race.
