- Comment: It is a borderline WP:G11 candidate. However, please see WP:CORPDEPTH and WP:NPOV and improve the draft accordingly. Hitro talk 21:41, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Slimbook is a Spanish company established in 2015 that specializes in manufacturing and selling ultrabooks.[1][2][3], desktop computers[4], mini PCs[5] and accessories tailored for GNU/Linux distributions. Slimbook's hardware is also compatible with Windows.
History
[edit]Slimbook was created in 2015[6] on the initiative of its CEO Alejandro López and it is part of the Grupo Odín company, founded in 2007 in Valencia, with the personal goal of having a high-end ultrabook with a pre-installed copy of GNU/Linux, as the company believes there were very few alternatives at the time.[7]
From its inception, the company has focused on designing and developing laptops that can come pre-installed with GNU/Linux, providing full compatibility. The founders' vision was to create a seamless and user-friendly experience for Linux users that could be comparable to the experience of new hardware shipped with Windows or macOS.
Products
[edit]Slimbook's product range includes a variety of laptops, desktops, mini PCs, and accessories. Some of the notable products in their lineup include:
- Slimbook Hero: a line of gaming laptops focused on high-end performance[8].
- Slimbook Executive[9] and Slimbook Excalibur: ultrabooks for professionals, creators and developers.
- Slimbook One[10]: a compact mini PC series.
- Slimbook Kymera[11]: A customizable desktop series.
Slimbook OS and specific software
[edit]Slimbook develops its own GNU/Linux distribution based on Ubuntu, Slimbook OS, which offers an adapted experience to their hardware.
Some applications have also been developed to allow the user further control over peripherals, including a battery manager, a face-unlock system, controllers for Intel and AMD processors, keyboard and touchpad configuration.
Partnerships with free software communities
[edit]Some exclusive models have been launched with mostly visual modifications that support a specific free software group. Some examples of these are the KDE Slimbook series and the Fedora Slimbook series, where a percentage of the sales are donated to these organizations.
Other activities
[edit]The company created in 2018 a physical space called Linux Center[12][13] in Paterna, which has been used to host events or workshops for many different free and open source tools.
Slimbook has actively participated and/or sponsored many events related to the FOSS world, such as Akademy[14][15][16][17], Akademy-es[18], and GUADEC.
In 2021, Slimbook became an official patron of KDE[19]
