If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by GrabUp 59 days ago. |
Raaj FM was formed in the May 2006 in response to requests from local Panjabi speaking people in the Sandwell area for a more balanced and interactive radio broadcasting.[1]
Raaj FM broadcasts to the British Panjabi community, on 91.3 FM. The station is known for its focus on Punjabi music and culture, providing a platform for both traditional and contemporary Asian music.
The station also co-founded the Sandwell & Birmingham Mela, the UK's biggest South Asian festival, in 2011 which has an annual audience of 75000. They also hold community open days, seminars in Gurdwaras, community centres, youth clubs, colleges and schools.
Raaj FM offers a wide range of programs that include music shows, talk shows, news bulletins, and special segments dedicated to various community interests.[2] The station’s programming is designed to appeal to listeners of all ages, with a particular emphasis on Punjabi music and culture. Popular shows feature a mix of Bollywood hits, Bhangra, and classical music, alongside discussions on current events, health, and education.
The station provides a platform for community leaders and organisations to share information and engage with the public. Raaj FM also supports local talent by featuring interviews and performances from up and coming artists.
In 2011, Raaj FM was found to be in breach of Sandwell Council regulations. The station was accused of subletting its council premises to other businesses, which was against the terms of their lease.[3] This led to a significant dispute with the council, impacting the station’s operations and resulting in legal challenges.[4] The council initiated an investigation after it was revealed that multiple businesses, including a law firm and an accident claims management company, were operating from Raaj FM’s premises.
