Prix Jeunesse International is an international festival and conference for children's and youth media, which has been organized every 2 years since 1964 by the Prix Jeunesse Foundation, supported by Bayerischer Rundfunk, Bayerischer Staatsministerium Für family, Arbeit und Soziales, ZDF, City or Munich , Bayerischer Landenszentrale für Neue Medien BLM and with extra support from Kika von Ard und ZDF, Sinking Ship Entertainment Canada, Darrall Macqueen England, PTS Taiwan, Spark Norway, Fabelaktiv Norway, Norwegian Filmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Kulmbacher, Alpen Yma Canada.
The event takes place in every year in the May-June period in Munich and it is unofficially also known as 'the Oscars of the Children's television'.
Management The Prix Jeunesse Foundation is led by Dr. Maya Götz, who is also head of the Internationales Zentralinstitut für das Jügend- und Bildungsfernsehen IZI that does a lot of research into youth and media that is presented during the festival and in the intervening years. Both organizations are located in the head office of the Bayerischer Rundfunk BR, on the Rundfunkplatz in Munich.

Awards An international discussion Group during Prix Jeunesse International 2024. Prix Jeunesse International has 6 main prizes and 8 special prizes.
The main prizes are determined by the festival participants who can be registered as 'Voter' or 'Observer'. As a voter you can vote in the head of categories by you by viewing each program in that category and after participation in one of the international discussion groups after the end of the relevant category filling in a voting form by giving 4 digits per film/program From 1-10: for idea, for script, for realization and for target group. This way of voting is also called the 'Prix Jeunesse method'.

Prix Jeunesse Suitcase After each festival, the Prix Jeunesse Foundation, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut, puts a 'suitcase' together of prize-winning, remarkable and many discussed films and programs of that year. This Prix Jeunesse Suitcase is a training tool with which a mini version of the festival can be simulated locally. Prix Jeunesse Foundation appointed representatives travel to countries that have registered for such a suitcase to give a usually multi -day training there. Supporters of Prix Jeunesse Foundation who already gave more than 10 of such training courses are: David Kleeman (USA), Aldana Duudde (Argentina), Jan-Willem Bult (the Netherlands).
