Ordos No. 1 High School, its originally called "National Yimeng High School", founded in 1939, is a grammar school locates in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. After the founding of the People's Republic of China (1949), it was taken over by the People's Government of Suiyuan Province. The school moved from Dongsheng to Kangbashi in September 2010. The original Dongsheng campus was located at No. 9, Baori Taohai East Street (now Yikezhao High School).


The current school building covers an area of ​​64,320 square meters and consists of three teaching buildings, a comprehensive library and experimental information building, an administrative office building, an auditorium, a gymnasium, a restaurant and a student apartment building.

In 2017, the school was elected as The first national civilized campus[1]

In 2020年, it was listed as the 2019-2020 energy-saving public institution demonstration units[2]

In early 1938, the Ministry of Education of Republic of China government established the "National Yimeng Middle School" in Yimeng and appointed Jing Tianlu as the principal.

On July 3, 1938, the first batch of more than 60 freshmen from various banners officially started school and were organized into two cultural cram schools. At that time, there were 12 faculty members in the school, including 5 full-time teachers.

In the spring of 1939, Tutoring Class A was promoted to the first grade of junior high school and became the school’s first grade student, which was taught in both Mongolian and Chinese languages.

At the beginning of 1940, because the original school building could not accommodate it, the school moved to the Zasak Banner Rebirth Temple.

In the spring of 1941, the Ministry of Education of the National Government approved the establishment of "War Zone Classes", and more than 60 students from occupied areas began to enroll.

On September 19, 1949, with a peaceful uprising in Suiyuan Province, Yimeng Middle School returned to the embrace of the people.

In May 1952, the school moved back to Dongsheng County, Yikezhao League, and the new school buildings were completed on October 15.

In 1958, the reputation of Yimeng No. 1 Middle School in the region was greatly improved and it was listed as a key middle school in Inner Mongolia

In 1970, the school was transferred to the jurisdiction of Dongsheng County and renamed "Dongsheng County No. 1 Middle School".

In 1980, the school was officially designated as a key middle school in Inner Mongolia

In 1987, the school was rated as an advanced school by Education Department of Inner Mongolia autonomous government

Since 1993, the school has begun large-scale renovation and construction of campus infrastructure with self-raised funds.

In September 2001, the school was renamed Ordos No. 1 High School as the school withdrew from the alliance and was established as a city.

In 2002, the school was named one of the first batch of model ordinary high schools in Inner Mongolia

In 2010, the school moved to Ordos Street, Kangbashi District, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia.

In March 2024, the main building of Ordos No. 1 High School (East Campus) was partially completed and is undergoing debugging and trial operation,which is expected to be fully completed by the end of June[4]

Ordos No. 1 High School has already constructed a new Campus and plans to start the relocation work on June 15. The campus has 17 main buildings, including teaching buildings, comprehensive experimental buildings, lecture halls for 1,000 people, art buildings, libraries, gymnasiums, dormitories, and student service centers. The reporter learned that Ordos No. 1 Middle School (East Campus) plans to set up 60 classes and accommodate 2,700 students.

Gymnasium

The school gymnasium is desined by the Architectural Design Insititude of Tianjing University.It nearly covers an area of 5658 square meters and the main body height is about 20.44 meters. The gymnasium provides complete facilities and equipment with two floors. The first floor has basketball courts and volleyball courts. The second floor has table tennis courts and badminton courts.

Alumni

Yunbatu: In 1952, he was selected by the army to study in Class 16 of Ordos No. 1 Middle School. Later, he served as regiment political commissar and division political commissar in the army. After retirement, he served as honorary president of the World Chinese Federation of the China Confucian Entrepreneurs Association and honorary president of the Confucius Institute of China.

Zhang Shuangwang: Founded Yitai Group in March 1988. According to Forbes' 2012 China's 400 Richest List, it has total assets of more than 69.5 billion yuan and owns 42 direct and indirect holding companies.

Sha Yiting: On November 1, 2020, he won the third place in the finals of Bilibili's "Rap for Youth". After the show, he joined the rap youth culture label W8VES
