"Shield '94" was an operation carried out on late 1994 south of Bihac, with the goal of capturing the towns on the way and threatening the city.
Background
[edit]On October 25, an operation named "Thunder '94" led by Atif Dudaković was carried out with the goal of pushing the 2nd Krajina Corps back from the same region. The operatuon was a success, and by October 31 Bosnian militants successfully re-claimed 250km² of territory, including the town of Kulen Vakuf. However, some Bosnian goals weren't reached: in fact, Bosanska Krupa resisted to the attacks and it was defended just by the 11th Krupa Light Infantry Brigade. To re-capture the lost territories, the VRS then launched Shield '94.[citation needed]
Course of Shield '94
[edit]The Operation was commanded by general Manojlo Milanovic and was a success. Between November 4 and November 20, the Bosnians were pushed back to the initial positions, and Bihac was semi-encircled.[citation needed]
