The Ode to Equality (Persian: سرود برابری, Sorood-e Barābari) is a feminist song originally written and performed in Persian.[1] The song calls for unity in the fight for gender equality, originating from women's rights social movement inside of Iran. The song contains three verses and a chorus.[2][3] The song is often performed by women in protest on the United Nations International Women's Day.[4]

Javāneh Mizanam
Be rooy-e zakhm-e bar tanam Faghat be hokm boodanam Ke man zanam zanam zanam |
Seeds sprout from the wounds on my body,
For the mere crime of existing, For I am woman, woman, woman. |
Cho ham seda shavim o,
Pa-be-pay-e ham raveem o, Dast-be-dast-e ham dameem o, Az satam rahā shavim. |
Let's unite our voices and,
Move together step-by-step, Hand-in-hand and, Free ourselves of oppression. |
Jahān-e digaree
Besāzim az barābari, Be ham deli o khahari, Jahān-e shād o behtari |
Let's build a different world from equality,
Our hearts united in sisterhood, A happy, better world. |
Na sang o sar-hā
Na pa-ye choob-e dar-hā Na Gerye-ha-ye bar-hā Na nang o āarha |
No stones or anguish
No more end of the noose No more everlasting tears No more shame and disgrace |
Jahān-e digaree
Besāzim az barābari, Be ham deli o khahari, Jahān-e shād o behtari |
Let's build a different world from equality,
Our hearts united in sisterhood, A happy, better world. |
