npm (record label)
Introduction
[edit]npm is an independent record label founded in 2019 by Alex Piers. The label has built a reputation for releasing innovative and experimental electronic music. Amongst the producers that have released for the label are Phillip Sollmann (Efdemin), Answer Code Request, Jan Wagner, Luke Hess, John Beltran, IORI, and Orlando Voorn.
History
[edit]Founded in 2019, npm is a Guildford-based record label known for its focus on electronic music and niche artists within that genre. With a relatively small but dedicated roster of artists, the label emphasises creative freedom, allowing its musicians to explore unique and unconventional sounds.[1]
npm has worked with artists such as John Beltran, who released his EP *The Peninsula* through the label in 2022.[2] The label also collaborates with other established artists such as Efdemin and Luke Hess.
In addition to music releases, npm is involved in promoting live performances and events that align with its artistic vision, creating immersive experiences that blend music, visual art, and technology.[3]
The label operates a subsidiary called p-ertönen, which focuses on limited vinyl releases from emerging artists. The German word 'ertönen' translates to "to sound" or "to ring out" in English.[4]
