Nathan Scoggins is an American film director.[1]

Early life

[edit]

Born in Rhode Island, Scoggins was heavily involved in theater at an early age and produced plays during high school and in college.[2] He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1999.[3]

Work

[edit]

Scoggins produced and directed the award-winning Doritos Super Bowl commercials known as 'Sling Baby' and 'Fashionista Daddy'.[4] The 'Sling Baby' commercial was voted No. 1 in the USA Today/Facebook Super Bowl Ad Meter in 2012.[5]

Scoggins helped produce Red Line,[citation needed] a 2012 disaster film starring Nicole Gale Anderson and John Billingsley. The majority of the film took place in the soundstage of John Paul the Great Catholic University.[6]

Scoggins is most known to mainstream audiences for his work on the 2022 film What Remains,[7][failed verification] one of Anne Heche's last films before her death in 2022.[8] The film follows a recently paroled convict who returns to the small town where he committed a murder. The local sheriff investigates another mysterious homicide which may be related.[9] The film also stars Marcus Gladney Jr., Stelio Savante, and Juliana Destefano.[10]

His drama The Least of These starred Isaiah Washington, Robert Loggia, Bob Gunton, and John Billingsley.[11] The story follows a priest returning to the Catholic high school where he once was sexually abused.[12]

Both What Remains and The Least of these was made by Scoggins' longtime collaborator, Ralph Winter.[13]

Personal life

[edit]

He is a Christian.[14] He is a professor at John Paul the Great Catholic University[15] and included faculty and staff in the making of What Remains.[16]
