The NFPA 2500 (Standard for Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents and Life Safety Rope and Equipment for Emergency Services) is a safety standard maintained by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Released in September 2021, the document consolidates the previously published standards NFPA 1670, NFPA 1858, and NFPA 1983. The 2022 edition is the current version.[1]
It was originally planned that manufacturers would have a deadline of September 2022 to begin printing with the new standard, but this was delayed to early-mid 2023.[2] Equipment marked with the previous standard(s) is still considered up to code, but cannot be sold by manufacturers.[3]
