This article is about the Musa Mekong banana a really obscure type of banana tree that i am currently researching I have
put below the information i have found and made so far.
- Native Range: Found in the Mekong River basin, including parts of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
- Habitat: Prefers wetland areas and can often be found near riverbanks and in moist, tropical environments.
- Fruit Characteristics:
- The fruit is also small and can be sweet but varies in taste.
- Like Musa itinerans, it typically contains seeds, making it less appealing for eating compared to cultivated bananas.
- It has a reddish tint to the skin of the peel.
- Uses:
- Primarily known for its ornamental value rather than for culinary purposes.
- It may also have some traditional uses in local cuisines or for medicinal purposes, although this is less documented.
- Growth Habit: Similar to Musa itinerans, it can grow as a clumping plant with multiple pseudo stems.
