Mukesh Sharma (born 7 October 1979) is an Indian wrestler and politician. He is affiliated with the Bhartiya Janata Party from Gurugram...[1][2]. He is a contender for Gurugram Assembly seat for BJP[3][4]
Early life
[edit]Sharma was born into a farmer family in Gurugram[5], Haryana,[6][7] India. His father served as the Sarpanch and Block Committee member of Dhundahera Gram Panchayat for approximately 25 years.
He was a wrestler for almost 20 years to the sports, winning gold medals and others prizes in various national-level competitions, both within Gurugram[8] district Haryana,[9][10] and in other states across India.
Social works
[edit]Sharma is working for Gurugram as a social worker from last two decades.[11][12]
Political career
[edit]Mukesh transitioned from wrestling to politics in 2003. He quickly became active within the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2004, he served as a National Working Committee Member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha[13]. By 2009, he took on the role of National Coordinator for the BJP Sports Cell. That same year, he contested the Gurugram[14] Assembly constituency in Haryana as a BJP[15] candidate, securing nearly 17,000 votes. His involvement with the Sangh had been ingrained since childhood, and in 2021, he became a Haryana State Working Committee Member of the BJP.[16][17][18]
