Mukesh Sharma (born 7 October 1979) is an Indian wrestler and politician. He is affiliated with Bhartiya Janata Party from Gurugram.[1][2]
Early Life
[edit]Sharma was born into a farmer family in Gurugram,Haryana[3][failed verification] India. His father served as the Sarpanch and Block Committee member of Dhundahera Gram Panchayat for appoximately 25 years.[citation needed]
He dedicated almost 20 years to the sports, achieving significant success. His accomplishments include winning gold medals and others prizes in various national-level competitions, both within Gurugram district Haryana[4][5][failed verification] and in other states accross India.[citation needed]
Political career
[edit]Mukesh transitioned from wrestling to politics in 2003. He quickly became active within the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2004, he served as a National Working Committee Member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BJYM). By 2009, he took on the role of National Coordinator for the BJP Sports Cell. That same year, he contested the Gurugram Assembly constituency in Haryana as a BJP candidate, securing nearly 17,000 votes. His involvement with the Sangh had been ingrained since childhood, and in 2021, he was entrusted with the responsibility of being a Haryana State Working Committee Member of the BJP.[6][7][failed verification]
