Mohammad Perwaiz Iqbal SI,[1] FPAS is a Pakistani Biochemist specializing in Nutritional Biochemistry, currently Professor at University of Management & Technology, Lahore.[2]
Dr. Iqbal did his Bsc (1967) and later Msc (1970) from University of Punjab. He completed his MS & later Phd in Biochemistry & Hematology from NewYork University, USA in 1978, and 1981 respectively.[3]
His research interests include Nutrition, Environment, Gene Polymorphism/Cell Biology. He served as a Professor of Biochemistry at Agha Khan University Karachi till 2019. Currently he is teaching as Professor at University of Management & Technology, Lahore.
Research & Publications
[edit]Dr. Perwaiz has authored more than 170 Publications with a cumulative Impact factor > 265. His research mainly focused on clinical and nutritional Biochemistry. He has also conducted studies on structure and function of different proteins involved in nutritional biochemistry. During his tenure at AKU, he studied the coronary heart disease risks and prognostic biochemical markers for different diseases,[4] and the role of Vitamin E in Anemia.[5] He is also exploring the climate change effects on Pakistani population.[6]
