Miguel De La Rocha (born on April 21, 1971) is an American author[1], Gulf War veteran, and former model. He is known for his significant life challenges, De La Rocha’s journey spans military service, personal loss, and literary achievements.
Early life and education
[edit]De La Rocha was born on April 21, 1971, at Mather Air Force Base in California, USA. He was born with a serious complication, as the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck three times, which left him blue and unresponsive. Doctors were able to resuscitate him.[2]
At age 15, he was diagnosed with cancer. Due to this, he had to leave San Dieguito High School. [2]
Career
[edit]At 18, De La Rocha enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Gulf War at the early age of 19 years old. Over his 14-year military career, he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT)[2], demonstrating leadership and resilience. During his military career, Miguel received multiple medals and awards while saving numerous lives as a Land Navigation Instructor for Search and Rescue Operations along the Gulf Coast.
De La Rocha initially entered the fashion world, performing in runway shows. However, his breakthrough in the modeling industry came later when he appeared on the cover of Voraka Magazine, an international fashion publication, in October 2024.
De La Rocha’s literary journey began with the publication of his poem, “The Birth of Spring,” which won the Top Ten Best Poems of the Year award from the National Library of Poetry in 1995.[3][4] His literary achievement is his inspirational autobiography, F.A.T.E.: My Future After Traumatic Events, which took a decade to complete. Published by Fulton Books, the book has been distributed globally through the Ingram Content Group. [4][5]
