Martin Lendi (*September 23, 1933, in Bad Ragaz) is a Swiss legal scholar with major contributions to spatial planning and spatial planning law throughout Europe. Starting in 1969, he was a professor at the ETH Zurich, and in 1976, he became a full professor of law.[1] He retired on October 1, 1998 but has remained academically active since.
Life
[edit]Lendi is a citizen of Tamins and Küsnacht. He studied law in Zurich, earned his doctorate in 1958, and obtained his attorney's license in 1960.
From 1961 to 1969, Lendi served as the General Secretary for the Department of Construction in the Canton of St. Gallen. Between 1969 and 1987, he held various leadership roles, including director of the ORL Institute, head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and head of the Department of Law and Economics at ETH Zurich. From 1987 onward, he held an independent professorship in law. His research focused on topics such as spatial planning, traffic law, and environmental law. Significant projects included contributions to national spatial planning frameworks, political planning, quasi-state administration, traffic law, and the theory of spatial planning.
