Mallipotha lake is located close proximity to the beautiful town Bibile in Monaragala District, Uva Province. It is surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and native bush. Mallipotha has become a popular destination of local tourists and nature lovers for it's unique features.
Although Mallipotha is a man made tank(lake), it blends with the natural beauty of the native bush forest around and gives a picture perfect view with the Dorapoda Mountain Ranges at the back. [1]
Kotasara Piyangala Rajamaha Viharaya, which is at a close proximity to the lake is an ancient temple with a history going as far as the king Devanampiyatissa (250-210BC) of the Anuradhapura Kingdom based on ancient Chronicles.
