MEDICOM is a scientific dissemination multimedia format by tv author, host and journalist Dario Nuzzo.[1]. With the aim to engage patients and clinicians about disease awareness or correct disease diagnosis and management, the format proposes an entertainment approach inspired by tv programmes, movies and tv series imagery and offers in-depth specific tutorials approved by and made with healthcare professionals.
The format
[edit]MEDICOM was launched in 2017 with the “Sulla pelle di Susanna” web series project, an awareness campaign about chronic spontaneous urticarial with FederAsma.
In 2019, the “Impazienti Cronici” web series is launched on YouTube. The series is about therapeutic adherence.
In 2020, MEDICOM partners with comedy group “Casa Surace” for an awareness video about the importance of subcutaneous therapy for elder patients starring the beloved Nonna Rosetta.
In 2021, the disease awareness campaign web series “Vicini di Colesterolo” is broadcasted on the Prime Video Italy streaming service.
In 2022, athletics champion Vanessa Ferrari is a guest star in MEDICOM’S “E ti dirò…”, a web series about thyroid diseases. The series also became a podcast, broadcasted on Spotify.
Between 2022 and 2023, the “Notti in bianco” MEDICOM web movie, about circadian rhythm disorders, is broadcasted on the Prime Video Italy streaming service.
In 2023, MEDICOM launches its first international project, “Future Seeds”[2], a docufiction film about the topic of sustainability and its relationship with health[3]
Medi@School
[edit]Medi@School is an edutainment format on the topic of health. It involves the participation of local schools via gamified activities and edutainment workshops with in-depth focuses on a specific health-related topic to spread awareness on the best healthcare practices.
The project’s main ambassaador is Mukko Pallino, a kid-friendly tv format created by tv author, host and journalist Dario Nuzzo.
