Established in 1984 by the His Holiness Swami Premananda Giri Maharaj, Kriya Yoga Ashram, also known as Kriya Yoga Retreat Center, stands as a sacred haven on the spiritual landscape. Swami Premananda Giri Maharaj, a devoted disciple of Yogi Raj Lahari Mahasaya, laid the foundation for a profound spiritual journey that continues to unfold.
In 2009, following the Mahasamadhi of Swami Premananda Giri Maharaj, his dedicated disciple, Giri Surya Swami Maharaj, assumed the stewardship of the ashram. With unwavering commitment, he has continued the sacred work, walking the path of the Kriya Yoga Lineage.
Premananda Giri Maharaj and His Legacy : Premananda Giri Maharaj (1st January 1936 – December 20, 2010) was the esteemed founder of the Kriya Yoga Ashram-Retreat Center in Gangasagar. A devoted disciple of Paramhansa Hariharananda Ji Maharaj, he established the ashram in 1984, creating a haven for spiritual seekers to practice Kriya Yoga and pursue self-realization. Throughout his life, Maharaj imparted teachings of compassion, meditation, and inner transformation, touching countless lives with his wisdom.
Since his passing, Maharshi Giri Surya Swami, a dedicated disciple, has carried forward Maharaj’s legacy. Under his guidance, the ashram continues to be a beacon of peace and spiritual growth, preserving the vision and teachings of Premananda Giri Maharaj.
