John J. Griffin (*1988) is an American screenwriter and producer. He is best known for his work on Crater (2023) and From (2022).[1]
From, an American science fiction/horror television drama series created and executive produced by John Griffin, directed and executive produced by Jack Bender, and showrun and executive produced by Jeff Pinkner, premiered in the US on Epix on February 20, 2022.[2] It was nominated later the same year for Best Horror Television Series: Network/Cable at the Saturn Awards.
Griffin says the idea for the show came after the events of 9/11, which sent him on a journey of self-discovery and finding meaning when "your entire world has shattered". It was his first time, to question the permanence to the constructs society relies on.[3] When asked about the sci-fi setting of the show, he explained he has "always been more attracted to telling human stories" and explore human themes "against an unlikely backdrop".[4]
