Jeffrey Kung (孔令奇; pinyin: Kǒng Lìngqí; born June 9, 1981) is a Chinese singer, producer, and entrepreneur. Kung is a 76th-generation descendant of Confucius,[1] and the brother of Chinese-American television personality and entrepreneur, Crystal Kung Minkoff.[2]
Kung was born on 9 June 1981 in Los Angeles, California, to Chinese immigrant parents. His father is of Shandong ancestry and his mother, Taiwan. Kung is best known as an award winning producer and the creator of the first hiphop radio show in China, "The Park" (嘻哈公園) which ran from 2006-2019.[3]
Kung began his career when he was 19 in 2001. The following year, he won both "New Best Artist" and "MTV's New Artist of the Year" in the 13th Golden Melody Awards. [3]In 2012, he won the award for Producer of the Year.[4] Dubbed the "Hip Hop OG" of China, Jeffrey is one of the first Chinese artist's to rap in both English and Chinese in the mainstream Mandarin pop market. [3]
Outside of music, Kung is a businessman and co-founded the coconut beverage brand "Real Coco" since 2010 with his business partner Brian Bardos and his sister Crystal Kung Minkoff.[5] As of March 2024, Kung was engaged to his partner, Eunice Jaymie Tan. [6]
