The Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation was established following an initiative by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and with the endorsement of the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. It was officially founded during the Bishkek Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States on August 23, 2012. The Foundation commenced its operations with the appointment of Ambassador Gunay Efendiyeva as its inaugural President at the Astana Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States on September 11, 2015. The Secretariat of the Foundation is situated in Baku. The current chairperson of the Foundation is Aktoty Raimkulova, who assumed the presidency during the Turkic States Summit held on November 3, 2023.

Purpose of the Foundation

The Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation is committed to the preservation, study, and promotion of the culture and heritage of Turkic-speaking populations through the support and execution of various projects and programs. To realize these objectives, the Foundation collaborates with pertinent organizations and endorses initiatives across several critical domains, including culture, education, science, human rights, tourism, information and communication, and other priority sectors among the Turkic peoples.
