Imam Shah (born 21 June 1988) is a Singapore-born actor. He is known for his action roles in Singapore television channel MediaCorp Suria.[1] In Malaysia, he is known for his role as Shafiq in Lafazkan Kalimah Cintamu (2018).[2]
Early Life and Family
[edit]Imam was born on 21 June 1988 in Singapore and was raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[3] He attended Sekolah Sri Inai Kuala Lumpur between 1996-2001 before moving back to Singapore to complete his national service as a Fire Fighter in Singapore Civil Defence Force. Imam is the son of Mariana Yati, a Singapore actress and grandson of Malay music icon Nona Asiah.[4][5] He was born to a Malay family of both Malay and Japanese descent.
Career
[edit]Imam began acting in Singapore as a calefare in Mengejar Mentari S2 (2015),[6] before rising to attention with his leading role in Mediacorp Suria (TV channel) S.O.S[7][8] and gained prominence with his role in Firasat (2014). He later was voted the Most Popular Male Personality in Mediacorp Pesta Perdana (2015),[9] beating hot favourite Syariff Sleeq and Hisham Hamid to the award.[10]
He migrated to Malaysia in 2017 to begin his acting career and was cast in the role of Shafiq in one of Siti Rosmizah Semail most anticipated novels Lafazkan Kalimah Cintamu in 2018.[11]
On 25 March 2020, Imam starred alongside celebrity actress and longtime friend Hannah Delisha in a mixed martial drama SAGA 2.0.[12] They became engaged and later married in a private wedding ceremony in The Fullerton Hotel Singapore on 18 February, 2021.[13][14]
