Honey Select 2 is a sequel to the eroge dating sim Honey Select. Unlike Honey Select, the sequel has a simple plot and the ability to talk with the women featured in the game. Honey Select 2 is the only game in the series with a wide release in North America.
Plot
[edit]The player character finds himself in a large facility where he's greeted by a mysterious woman named Fur. She tells the main character that the facility helps people find relationships of all kinds. Fur also tells the main character that all the women in the facility have a high libido, meaning that he (or she) won’t have any trouble finding love.
Gameplay

[edit]While designed with virtual reality in mind, Honey Select 2 works without a headset using a keyboard and mouse.
Like Honey Select, Honey Select 2 allows the player to choose from a list of pre-existing or player-created women to have sex with. In addition to allowing the player to invite these women to a specific location for sex, the player may also choose to “Wander the Halls.”
When wandering the halls, the player can interact with the women in a number of events. These include meeting up for sex, having conversations, coming across the women in many situations (such as showering or sleeping) or a special event (such as the woman being stuck). While every event has the potential to lead to sex, it can be avoided in most cases.
Meeting certain requirements unlocks new locations for sexual interactions.
Like the first game, character creation is the most developed aspect of Honey Select 2. It uses the same creator as Illusions earlier release, Shoujo AI, and characters can be transferred between the games.[1]. Honey Select 2 lacks customization options for a male character. However, the player may choose to use a futanari woman as their player character.
Studio NEOV 2
[edit]Studio NEOV 2 is an image/animation program packaged with Honey Select 2 that allows the player to use the pre-made characters or characters they’ve created as models. They can also use any of the locations present within the base release of Honey Select 2.
Release
[edit]Honey Select 2 was released on October 30, 2020, in Japan and June 2nd, 2022 in North America through Steam as Honey Select 2 Libido DX[2]
The Steam release includes all the official add-ons released until that point. However, it notably lacks customization options and entire locations found in the Japanese release. These include school uniforms and the classroom location. Illusion released a patch to reintroduce these items soon after the game’s western release.
Reception
[edit]Xcalibar25 gave it a 4/5 in their 2022 review of the game[i], claiming that “it says what it is on the title screen (a 3D Customizable Sex Simulator), so if that’s not what you want, then don’t buy it.”
It has a very positive rating on Steam[2]. Critics of the game comment on the steep price and lack of overall content.
