Hacı Talip farm raid was a conflict that took place between the French troops and Kuva-yi Milliye in Tarsus during the Franco-Turkish War on the night of June 25, 1920.
The French occupation troops placed some of their troops in strategic places in Tarsus to hold the entrances and exits of the city. 7 km from Tarsus. Hacı Talip Farm, located in the southwest and north of the Tarsus railway (Mersin-Tarsus line), also had an important location.
The French had placed a company on this farm, mostly consisting of Algerian and Tunisian soldiers, reinforced with machine guns. Turkish national forces decided to launch an attack in order to prevent Mersin-Tarsus railway transportation for a while. Tarsus Group Commander Major Ismail Ferim Şalvuz Bey was assigned for this offensive.
Ismail Ferahim, who was assigned to this offensive, gathered his platoons and started the attack on the evening of June 25, 1920, before sunset, advancing in the area given to him with the fire support of the mountain artillery. At the same time, the siege circle was gradually narrowed. The French soldiers, panicked by this raid, opened fire randomly nearby.
Although the farm was completely surrounded within two hours, the French and the colonial forces did not surrender. The attack continued with all its intensity until midnight, but the farm was still not captured. Finally, they were surrounded from all sides and therefore the French soldiers responded with fire to the call for them to surrender. Thereupon, it was decided to burn the farm and it was set on fire from one side.
Thereupon, some of the French and colonial soldiers, who saw the buildings starting to burn, started to flee towards Tarsus, and those who could not escape were surrendered.
