Grace Chow is a multi-award winning Asian-Australian actress and writer.[1][2][3]

Early Life

Born in Singapore, Grace Chow grew up in the Western Australian rural town, Bruce Rock.[4] With little else to do, she focused on her creative pursuits which included painting and writing.[4] In interviews, Chow describes having to prove to her Taiwanese/Singaporean parents that a creative career was worth pursuing.[5][4]

Career

Grace Chow is an established playwright and actor in Australia and the US.[6] She is represented by Moore Creative Artists in Australia and 42MP in the UK/US, whose other notable clients include Anna Sawai and Ralph Fiennes.

Her most notable works as a writer include The Promise Land, which was the recipient of the 2022 Griffin Award,[5][2] and The Comprehensive A-Z of Missing Persons Australia.[1][7][8]

Chow studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts as a multi-disciplinary artist.[9][10] As an actor, she is known for playing Constable Cindy Cheung in the ABC Australian television series Mystery Road: Origin,[11] which was awarded Best Television Drama Series at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards,[12] and has been featured at the Toronto Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, the BBC and AcornTV.[13][14] In 2025, Chow will feature in the main cast of Good Cop/Bad Cop, opposite Leighton Meester, Luke Cook and Clancy Brown, which is to be released on The CW (USA) and Stan (Australia).[3] She is also known for playing Wendy Hang alongside Sam Neill in season two of The Twelve,[5][3][15] Her acting awards include being named a 'Top 10 Rising Star of Australian Stage and Screen' by the Casting Guild of Australia in 2024[16][17][5] and the Best Drama Ensemble at the Equity Ensemble Awards in 2023.[18] Other notable actors in the aforementioned top 10 list include Alyla Browne as Young Furiosa in the Mad Max franchises, and Courtney Monsma, who plays Glinda in 'Wicked!' on Broadway.[4][2][16]

Chow has also appeared on the Australian stage, having led an opera at the West Australian Opera, and performed with other companies such as the Black Swan State Theatre Company and Barking Gecko.[3][19][5][20]

Chow is also a successful painter. In 2023, her painting 'Desert in Peak Hour' was shortlisted for the international Boynes Artist Award.[9]
