controversey
[edit]The Film Development Board (FDB) of Nepal initially refused to register the film "Gaja baja" or issue a production license due to concerns about its perceived promotion of drug use, particularly with the term 'gaja' referring to 'marijuana'. Director Ganesh Dev Panday contested this decision in Nepal's Supreme Court in May 2016, citing freedom of expression. His challenge was supported by protests from prominent Nepali filmmakers. After a two-year legal battle, Panday and Tuka Entertainment succeeded, and in March 2018, the FDB approved the film for release with an adult certificate, mandating the muting of vernacular dialogues, as noted by Moviemandu's observations of the bleep-censored trailer.
Personal Life
[edit]Outside of filmmaking, Ganesh Dev Pandey maintains a private life, owns a popular Tea-shop francise "Chiyawala since 1956".
