The European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS)[1] is a non-profit umbrella organisation of 36 national immunological societies from Europe, Eurasia, and the Middle East. EFIS was founded 1975 in Amsterdam, first as a legal body within the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS)[2], and since 1995 as an independent legal body, registered in Utrecht, The Netherlands at the Uittreksel Handelsregister Kamer van Koophandel under registration number: 40483048in [3] The official journals of EFIS are the European Journal of Immunology [4]and Immunology Letters. EFIS´s self-proclaimed aim is to strengthen interactions between the member societies and support immunological research and education. EFIS offers awards such as the Ita Askonas Award, fellowships, and travel awards for young immunologists [5]. Every three years a congress (European Congress of Immunology) is held.
