Draft:Doug Howarth

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doug Howarth is an American economist, inventor, and Chief Executive Officer of Hypernomics, Inc. He is known for his contributions to multi-dimensional market analysis and the development of the software Hypernomica™. In 2024, Wiley (publisher) published his book Hypernomics: Using Hidden Dimensions to Solve Unseen Problems.

Early life and education

[edit]

Howarth holds a degree in economics.[citation needed] His research led to the development of his theory of Hypernomics.[citation needed] At the Skunk Works, he served as the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk Manufacturing Program Manager and later led their Parametric Analysis Group, where his work in market analysis and product development exposed him to the limitations of traditional economic models.[citation needed]

Hypernomics

[edit]

Hypernomics is a market analysis framework that uses multi-dimensional coordinate systems to reveal hidden patterns in economic data that traditional two-dimensional models do not account for. The method integrates additional dimensions, such as value, demand, and cost, to provide more nuanced insights into market behavior.

Key Concepts

[edit]
  • Law of Value and Demand: This principle suggests that value and demand are intrinsically linked within a multi-dimensional framework, providing insights into how consumer perceptions and market dynamics interact.
  • Four-Dimensional Coordinate Systems: Hypernomics uses four-dimensional systems that Howarth discovered. They are used to analyze market data, offering a more complex and accurate view of market behavior.
  • Five-Dimensional and N-Dimensional Systems: By incorporating any number of dimensions, in infinitely expandable coordinate systems Howarth found, Hypernomics allows for deeper analyses of complex market interactions and more accurate predictions.

The 2024 book, Hypernomics: Using Hidden Dimensions to Solve Unseen Problems, provides detailed explanations of these concepts, along with case studies showcasing their applications in various industries. The book has been reviewed in multiple forums, including the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) publication.[1]

Applications and Impact

[edit]

Hypernomics has been applied across industries, including aerospace, restaurant management, and the stock market. Companies such as RTX Corporation (formerly Raytheon), Virgin Galactic, Lockheed Martin, and NASA have used Hypernomics to optimize product offerings and market strategies.

The methodology is versatile. Although the majority of use has been in the aerospace arena, it can also be used in sports to analyze athletes and their performance parameters, medical statistics, and politics, among others.

In the restaurant industry, the methodology has been used to increase revenue by analyzing seating arrangements and customer behavior, leading to optimized table placements and improved service strategies. Hypernomics also provides valuable insights into stock market behavior by identifying undervalued stocks and helping investors make more informed decisions.

Achievements

[edit]

In May 2024, Doug Howarth won the "Best Paper Overall Award" at the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) conference for his work on Hypernomics.[2][3] This award recognized the practical applications of his theories in various industries. Howarth gave a keynote presentation at the ICEAA conference, where he elaborated on his multi-dimensional approach to market analysis.[4]

Howarth has authored 14 published papers, which are listed on his website.[5]

Howarth holds a patent for the software Hypernomica™ (formerly known as MEE4D™) (patent number 10,402,838), titled System and Method for Multi-Dimensional Parametric Display. This patent describes a software system that visualizes complex, multi-dimensional data relationships, enabling users to analyze economic variables such as value, demand, and cost beyond traditional two-dimensional models. The system provides dynamic, interactive visualizations to help interpret market behavior and support decision-making in various industries.[6]

Publications and Media Appearances

[edit]

Doug Howarth has made numerous media appearances, discussing his work and Hypernomics in articles, podcasts, and radio shows. Some notable appearances include:

  • Forbes article that analyzed the U.S. Department of Defense's spending on hypersonic missiles, critiquing the high cost.[7]
  • Inc.com discussed the groundbreaking nature of Hypernomics.[8]
  • Cashflow Academy with Andy Tanner, a podcast series launched by Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad fame.[9]
  • Money Rehab with Nicole Lapin – a podcast hosted by former CNBC, CNN, and Bloomberg news anchor Nicole Lapin, focusing on hidden economic principles and how they can change people's lives.[10]
  • School for Startups, radio show hosted by Jim Beach.[11]
  • Intentional Growth, a podcast hosted by Ryan Tansom[12]
  • Investor's Business Daily – Brief discussion on new stock chart technology and its impact on growth stocks.[13]

Future Directions

[edit]

Doug Howarth plans to continue refining the applications of Hypernomics and expanding its use across industries. He also intends to collaborate with academic institutions to incorporate Hypernomics into economic curricula, fostering the next generation of economists.
