Kevin Hicks | |

Born | 9 February 1970 |
Disappeared | 2 March 1986 (aged 16) Croydon, London, England |
Status | Missing for 38 years, 7 months and 20 days |
On 2 March, 1986, 16-year-old Kevin Hicks vanished from Croydon, London.[1]
Disappearance
[edit]On the evening of 2 Mar 1986, Hicks told his family that he needed eggs for an O level home economics exam, and told his mother that he was going to Sperrings Community shop on nearby Lower Addiscombe Road. He was last seen when he left his home with £1 at around 08.30pm.[2]
Aftermath
[edit]Despite a lengthy police investigation and numerous appeals for information, Hicks has never been found. Police attended the community shop for potential CCTV footage, but no footage was ever recovered. It is therefore unknown whether Kevin ever arrived there.[3] A witness recalled that they may have seen Hicks at around 10pm on Shirley Road, a short distance from his home,[4] but the sighting is unconfirmed.
Hicks parents have both since died. A fresh appeal for information was put out by his sister Alexandra in 2021.[1] Police believe that Kevin was murdered and have since offered a £20,000 reward for any information which may help discover what happened to Kevin.[1]
